#### SOLUTION

Let the quantity of alcohol in one container be x,

Then in other container be 3x.

Let the total quantity of both the mixtures be 10.

Then quantity in each container = 5

Again total quantity of alcohol = 10 × (2/5) = 4

Now, quantity of alcohol in container (i) = 1

and quantity of alcohol in container (ii) = 3

Hence the ration of alcohol to water in the containers initially was 1 : 4, 3 : 2
